Hello,
I recently passed my one year anniversary of living with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). It doesn't run in our family and shocked all of us when we learned of the diagnosis.
I wish I had wonderful words of wisdom about living with this condition. It is complex and requires me to take over for my pancreas, no easy feat. Every day, every hour is different and always changing.
I am working on accepting that I manage it less than perfectly, but I do manage it. Well, ok, there is that one time I threw my supplies across the room in total frustration. Most days I test my blood sugar, count my carbs, take my insulin, and exercise to help regulate my blood sugar. When I get burnt out from all the calculating and managing, friends and family prop me up. I can't tell you how much the notes, phone calls, and even cookbooks mean to me. They keep me going.
I am also grateful for all the tools I have to help me manage. Thank goodness for the hardworking scientists that created them.
Please help me raise money for the 2015 JDRF Delaware Hope Ball Fund A Cure campaign. Fund A Cure is a unique opportunity to make a 100 percent tax-deductible donation to JDRF that will fund vital research to cure, better treat and prevent T1D. Since 1994, JDRF has raised more than $267 million through Fund A Cure alone.
Thank you for being fabulous cheerleaders,
Stephanie
