Fund A Cure is a unique opportunity to make a 100 percent tax-deductible donation to JDRF that will fund critical type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Since 1994, JDRF has raised more than $267 million through the Fund A Cure campaign alone.

About JDRF

JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research.  JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D.  JDRF collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners and is the only organization with the scientific resources, regulatory influence, and a working plan to better treat, prevent, and eventually cure T1D. As the largest charitable supporter of T1D research, JDRF is currently sponsoring $568 million in scientific research in 17 countries. For more information, please visit www.jdrf.org.

Dear Friends and Family,

As many of you know, I’ve served on the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) Board of Directors for six years. I am fortunate enough to have no direct tie to type 1 diabetes (T1D) but decided to become involved with JDRF after witnessing the challenges faced by several friends who are affected by this disease.  T1D occurs when an autoimmune attack destroys the pancreas’ ability to naturally produce insulin. Those living with T1D must inject insulin with every meal and diligently monitor their blood sugar levels.   JDRF’s mission is to lessen the burden of T1D and ultimately find a cure.

In an effort to support this mission I’ve participated in the bicycle 100-mile Ride to Cure Diabetes, championed JDRF advocacy efforts and serve on the Hope Ball Committee.

More than 400 members of the community gather together each year at the JDRF Hope Ball and in one evening raise thousands of dollars towards funding research to prevent, treat and ultimately cure T1D.  This year the members of the Hope Ball Committee have committed to making a  “group” Fund A Cure gift at the Ball. 100% of Fund A Cure donations support research and research-related education, allowing your dollars to make the highest impact on our path to a cure

Please consider joining me in supporting Fund A Cure and make a gift in honor of JDRF Delaware’s Youth Ambassadors (pictured left).

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” — Margaret Mead, anthropologist

Together we will turn type one into type none.

With sincere gratitude,

Jill

P.S. My newest adventure with JDRF will be attending Government Day in Washington DC next month to champion JDRF’s advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill. Advocacy is vital not only to government-funded research but also to ensure the advancements made through research are available and affordable to those in need. Won’t you please consider signing up to be a JDRF advocate here: http://advocacy.jdrf.org/join-us-2/
