About JDRF
JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. JDRF collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners and is the only organization with the scientific resources, regulatory influence, and a working plan to better treat, prevent, and eventually cure T1D. As the largest charitable supporter of T1D research, JDRF is currently sponsoring $568 million in scientific research in 17 countries. For more information, please visit www.jdrf.org.
I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on December 4, 2000. Now, nearly 15 years later I have had the wonderful opportunity of interning with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. JDRF has a special place in my heart, as it does in the hearts of so many children and families affected by T1D. I believe that JDRF allows kids and families to find more to diabetes than just a disease. I have come to view diabetes as a way of life full of wonderful friendships, opportunities, and perspective. JDRF works tirelessly seeking a cure for T1D but also puts funds towards better management tools. They continue to discover new technology which allows kids like me to more easily live in a non-diabetic society. I highly encourage you to consider donating to our upcoming JDRF Hope Ball: Derby After Dark. Your support, no matter the amount, can make a huge difference and it is certainly appreciated. Thanks guys!
