About JDRF
JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. JDRF collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners and is the only organization with the scientific resources, regulatory influence, and a working plan to better treat, prevent, and eventually cure T1D. As the largest charitable supporter of T1D research, JDRF is currently sponsoring $568 million in scientific research in 17 countries. For more information, please visit www.jdrf.org.
I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D) at the age of 9 and now I am 51. I have been living with this disease for 42 years. I want the young children and teenagers to see that if you take care of yourself that you can live a long normal life with T1D.
I have had my ups and downs, but everyone goes through that in a normal life. I've worked hard to make care of myself and manage my T1D. I have two wonderful daughters - something doctors said I would never be able to do when I was diagnosed. Medical advances made possible by JDRF research have changed the way those with diabetes live their lives and made what was once considered impossible possible.
I am always looking for the next breakthrough to help other people living with T1D. Please help me ensure those advances continue by donating to the 2015 JDRF Delaware Hope Ball Fund A Cure campaign. Fund A Cure is a unique opportunity to make a 100 percent tax-deductible donation to JDRF that will fund vital research to cure, better treat and prevent T1D.
With sincere gratitude,
Jackie
